HELP!95 Grandam fan won't work

Noticed the car was running HOT to the red so this morn let it idle and watched for the fan to come on..... it went to RED and the fan never came on....tried to find a fuse for it to see if it was blown but none of the fuses in the compartment on the drivers side of the dash next to the door are marked "fan".Don't have an owners manual, so now I'm lost. Could it be a blown fuse? Or do these fans just die? Can I "jimmy-rig" it to test it and run it? I'm paranoid I may blow the head if I keep letting it run too close to red so any advise will be greatly appreciated....there's definatly NOT any extra cash flowing thru this house-hold for major (or even minor) repairs so putting it in a shop for testing is out. Also, does anyone know how to read the temp gauge? I heard the GA SE's run normal about 230, so where is that .... my gauge shows 220 in the middle then has a line starting at the red zone with no numbers ( where it goes at idle) then the line at the end of red reads 280. where exactly on the temp spectrum should the fan come on? Just got the car, but I'm ready to push this damn thing off a bridge..... Ron J.

hey Ron. Dont go throwing just yet. The gauge has three makes, it should read between the last two, not in the red. Some GAs do run hot, but 230 is to hot really. Gauges arent always accurate either. I'll PM you a link. XI
