Re: electrical problems

Welcome belnick23. the wire from the alternator does get hot. Since theres so many things using electricity. Now it should not be melting or smoking from being to hot. If it is smok'n hot u got something wrong. Make sure all your wire connections are tight on the battery and altenator. If they arnt tight it takes more juice to complete the connection/circut causeing heat. Hope this helps belnick23.

Re: electrical problems

Whats the year of ur car? what engine? Follow that wire that you replaced, it has to hav a loose connection or a bare wire somewhere. these wires are 8-10 AWG and should not melt. You did replace the wire with the same size wire? That'll cause a load to build in the smaller wire and melt it too. Did you check all the wires on the starter making sure they are tight and not touching anything.
