99 Jimmy test drive

I took my boss's 99 Jimmy out for a test drive this evening, and saw a couple of things I hope you guys can help me with. First is a hum at about 60 that gets better with a left swerve and worse with a right swerve. It seems to be coming from the rear on the right. Second is when you click the tow/haul button a dash light comes on sayig "check body panel soon". I think I know what one is, a wheel bearing. What the heck is that light all about? Thanks LM

I did a search everywhere and can't find anything about a check body panel soon. Maybe it said check transfer case? or check 4X4? Make sure you are reading it right.

Re: 99 Jimmy test drive

I did the same kind of search with the same results. It is definately a "body panel" light. I will look again this evening and make sure I have it exactly right. I'll look in the owners manual and see if it says anything. A couple other questions. Is the fuel pump destined to go out, it hasn't been changed yet at 78K miles? Does that sound like a front or rear wheel bearing? Thanks, LM

Fuel pump can last a long time if you replace the fuel filter regularly.

You said the noise was coming from the rear. Are you sure?

If so the rear driver's side bearings are gone.
