1995 G/am 2.3 no start
Ok, the basics: 1995 GA 2.3 auto 152,000 miles. Turns over will not start. Turns over normal speed, except low battery power.
Drove home from work on Wed. Went to start on Thurs, no start. It was damp outside with dew on everything.
I since replaced the plugs, the plug boots, coil hsg, both coils. I have spark at all 4 cylinders. No change after replacing those parts.
I have disconnected the fuel feed line under the hood. Didn't have the right size fitting for the pressure gauge (doh!). Good flow out of the pipe when priming.
Disconnected the fuel rail, flipped over and plugged in one injector. Shot fuel high enough to hit the hood insulator when cranking.
Ok, I got spark, I got fuel. I have a low battery which I am charging. The pump primes when you turn the key. I have sprayed starting fluid in just to see if it would stutter, something. Nope, no luck.
Any ideas? Thanks

After many therioes and such I decided it would be cheaper to pay some one else to guess when I had a no-start.
Towed to local dealer. First guess Ignition Module. Nope, didn't fix it (I could of told them that). Second guess crank sensor. Nope (guess again). Third guess was the PCM, they actually did a little diag for this This would of been my first guess. Nope...
So after 3 days of guessing they decided to take a hard look. Timing chain jumped. #3 #4 cylinders have very low compression compared to #1 and #2. Yep, bent valves too. That was my second guess before I had it towed in. $750-$1200 depending on damage.
All in All I saved myself a little cash not buying a PCM.
Look for it on Ebay now for $150.....

Re: 1995 G/am 2.3 no start
Well, I thought I would update this just to complete the story.
Turns out a compression test I told the idiots at the dealer revealed NO bent valves, compression good.
They blew me out of the water with a $700 quote to put on a chain and tensioner. They also wanted to charge me for the CPS they busted taking out on guess #2. The PCM they guessed wrong on is mine too. I yelled and screamed but in the end I bought the parts and such and walked away smarter I guess. They will receive a big fat ZERO on the Satisfaction Survey if I get it.
Anyway, I bought a chain and tensioner from the dealer I seel parts to at work. I paid $75 for both (a good deal). The guides looked good, they did not need replacing. The Exhaust cam was advanced less then about 1/8 turn. Lined it all up, put on the new chain and tensioner (which was the cause of the malfunction. The little keeper for the ratchet on the plunger busted, making it able for the plunger to release tension), started first click.

glad you got ur ride fixed GranDamage. it gets expensive when a shops guessing and just throwing parts at it till its fixed. so what made you think the Timing chain was the culprit? just a guess?

Educated guess really. I figured since I had spark and fuel it had to be a PCM, or timing chain issue. I'm glad it only jumped instead of breaking. If it would of broke, you can really tell that noise.
Been driving for about 2 weeks or so, not a problem so far....

Re: 1995 G/am 2.3 no start
Boy you are lucky...I had a 2.3 HO that jumped time and bent the valves on #2 &3. Glad to see that yours was an easier fix than mine. Just keep in mind to check the chain and tensioner every 60K mi. that should keep your 2.3 top notch for a long time.
