2002 recall
I received a notice about a recall on the distributor system. I called chevy and they said they are replacing the distibutor cap and rotor because of failed emissions tests. I have a 4.3 v-6.

I've also got an '02 but I bought mine used. I'm not sure how recalls work. Because I didn't buy mine new will I still get a notice for recalls? Is there a website somewhere where I can do a search by VIN for recalled items?

Re: 2002 recall
Go to your dealer with yor VIN. They can tell you if any recalls have been done to your truck. New, Used, It doesn't matter.

Yep, what he said... Must be only the v6, though, cause the rest don't have a distributor

Yeah I was just wondering in general. I know there have been a couple on my truck ( '02 Z-71) so I was just wondering if there was a way to check without having to go to a dealer....we all hate them equally haha

No I've got the 5.3L V8 so I don't think this particular recall pertains to me, but I would like to check to see if any others do.

follow up
I went to the dealer to see what was the problem. They told me that the suction line to the compressor sometimes leaks onto the distributor cap and get inside. So there fix is to put insulation around the line. I wasn't going to leave my truck for that so I left.
