2.8lV6 3800V6 swapRubberBurningSS 09-05-2005, 02:47 PM Im getting a late 80s early 90s blazer not sure what year excatly. It needs work. It has the 2.8l v6 and its not running right. I have a 88 bonivelle with the 3800v6. What would you need to do the swap from the 2.8l to the 3800? I have everything from the bonnivelle( the computer fuelpump etc) BlazerLT 09-05-2005, 04:03 PM no, period. RubberBurningSS 09-05-2005, 08:03 PM Is it possible to do? BlazerLT 09-05-2005, 09:05 PM Comon, one is a front wheel drive engine and the truck is a rear wheel drive vehicle. You do the math. RubberBurningSS 09-05-2005, 10:19 PM Does it make a difference that the engine came out of a front wheel drive car? I don't see why that would matter. I would be changing the trans and the moutmounts. Jeremy Fitch 09-05-2005, 10:20 PM Does it make a difference that the engine came out of a front wheel drive car? I don't see why that would matter. RubberBurningSS 09-06-2005, 12:30 AM Does the trans bolts up different or something? I plan on putting a 700r4 in if possible. BlazerLT 09-06-2005, 01:23 AM Does the trans bolts up different or something? I plan on putting a 700r4 in if possible. Drop it, it isn't going to happen. Not unless you want to spend $7000 custom fabricating everything to make it fit. RubberBurningSS 09-06-2005, 09:46 AM I just want to know why it wouldn't work? wolfox 09-06-2005, 05:20 PM If you researched your question at all...anywhere, let alone compared bolt patterns between the tranny you want and the engine you want/have - you wouldn't be here asking these questions. It simply will not work. Completely different driveline, PCM, body modules, the works. Swapping and taping stuff together like one could do in the past is pretty much done and gone in this age of purpose built, specifically engineered vehicles. Engine/driveline/computer swaps tend to still work, but only within VERY narrow margins. What you are proposing is not even on the map. If you're going through the trouble and expense of getting a 3.x V-6 in a 2.x Blazer, 1st generation - Consider a fully blown LS1 V-8 conversion. That just bolts right up with a mild swap of sensors and a donor computer. Have fun! s10blazerman4x4 09-07-2005, 03:59 PM If you had the rear wheel drive 3.8 from the buick it would work.Head over to www.advanceadapters.com They sell everything needed for the swap only if it is rear wheel drive motor from the Buick if not your out of luck. If anyone doubts this i can scan page from this book i am reading. s10blazerman4x4 09-07-2005, 04:00 PM vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
