P0335 and PO342 Codes Both and once

Hi

On a 98 cavilar with a 2.2l the check engine light was on. I took it to autozone and they found the codes were PO335 and PO342.

I know they are dealing with the crank sensor and cam sensor and they are in the same circuit.

But my question is how could both sensors go at the same time. Should I be looking at wiring or does anyone know a likely cause for this combination of codes?

Thanks
