I'm currently trying to get the car ready for state inspection. 1996 bmw 328ci. Every time I hit a pot hole or bump in the road the front wheels make a "rattle" sound. I know it's the brakes because when I apply the pedal the sound stops.

Currently the noise is getting worse when I ride down the road the front wheels make a clicking sound. I have tightened down every bolt remotely related to the front wheels and was unable to find any that were loose. I believe it could be the calipers but it appears there is a special tool to tighten them.
Any help is appreciated.

Probably just the anti-rattle clip. Make sure it's on the caliper correctly.

Where would it be located? Never heard of such a thing. Its a clip?

Its most likely your lower control arm ball joints could be shot or most likely your lwr ctrl arm bushings are blown. The bushings are a more likely cause since they wear out a little faster. No offence but fromy our responses I am led to believe that you dont know your way around cars very well. If thats not the case im sorry but I reccomend a person of your know how about cars you might wana take it to the dealer for bushings. They might offer you the lower control arms to and you should go with them. After those 2 things are replaced your steering and body roll will become better.
