The codes are p1390 and p0420 Thanks Scott P1390 = TIMING BELT SKIPPED 1 TOOTH OR MORE P0420 = CATALYST 1/1 EFFICIENCY FAILURE chigowolfs76 08-29-2005, 11:43 AM OK how much of a PIA is it to get the timing belt back into spec??? becaue right now I have no problem with it, LOTS of HP, and the idle is smooth I think right now more then before.... And On the 2nd code, I was waiting on that one, since I dont have a cat conv anymore on the car!!!! das2123 08-29-2005, 11:48 AM OK how much of a PIA is it to get the timing belt back into spec??? becaue right now I have no problem with it, LOTS of HP, and the idle is smooth I think right now more then before.... And On the 2nd code, I was waiting on that one, since I dont have a cat conv anymore on the car!!!!You would have to verify the code first. If it did skip a tooth, then that would be bad news, but you say the car is running strong. So I am not sure what to think then. The second would be no bother since your cat is removed. chigowolfs76 08-29-2005, 11:52 AM I will swing by AZ after work and get the code read by them, since I need a PS belt... Lost mine on the way to work, I think it walked off the Idler... chigowolfs76 08-29-2005, 11:57 AM If it did skip a tooth, I would have to rip apart everything, wouldnt I , like take the head off again das2123 08-29-2005, 11:58 AM If it did skip a tooth, I would have to rip apart everything, wouldnt I , like take the head off againIf it skipped a tooth then you mave have some bent valves. You might want to try a compression test before ripping the head off again. chigowolfs76 08-29-2005, 11:59 AM ok I pull the P1390 code it was the same as I looked up last night with the timing skiped 1tooth or more, but the defination I had was "Relationship between Cam and Crank signals not correct" das2123 08-29-2005, 12:12 PM ok I pull the P1390 code it was the same as I looked up last night with the timing skiped 1tooth or more, but the defination I had was "Relationship between Cam and Crank signals not correct"I have heard of this P1390 code being a problem and being related to the cam/crankshaft position sensor. Have you tried resetting your PCM and see if that helps any? Do you have an aftermarket cam gear/s? I have heard that advancing the timing helps to resolve the code. chigowolfs76 08-29-2005, 12:16 PM I will stop at AZ have the clear the code and see if that makes a diffrents... and by the way, if you dont mind I added you to my yahoo and AIM list chigowolfs76 08-29-2005, 12:17 PM Oh, and no I dont have any after market stuff on my car, it is all stock das2123 08-29-2005, 12:20 PM Oh, and no I dont have any after market stuff on my car, it is all stockAre you certain that you had everything lined up correctly then? chigowolfs76 08-29-2005, 12:23 PM I wasnt there at the time my brother put the head on..... so I have no flippen clue, he claims it was DTC, like I said it is running strong, maybe the timing is retarded a little, that why it is throwing the code. I will do a compression check tonight and see if everything there checks out. if the compression is find, should I not worry about that code then? das2123 08-29-2005, 12:33 PM I wasnt there at the time my brother put the head on..... so I have no flippen clue, he claims it was DTC, like I said it is running strong, maybe the timing is retarded a little, that why it is throwing the code. I will do a compression check tonight and see if everything there checks out. if the compression is find, should I not worry about that code then?If the compression tests come out good, then I would want to say don't worry. But the fact is the code probably will not go away either. Eventually you will want to make sure it is at TDC. I have seen alot of cases where people swore up and down they had the alignment correct, but when rechecking their work, they were wrong. chigowolfs76 08-29-2005, 12:37 PM Knowing by brother, and the way he wants to hurry at times, I am sure it is off a little, It is running strong, I will check the compression tonight, I am not worried about the CEL because until I put a new cat on I will have that light on, I am in the process of finding someone with a welder That I can borrow vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
