I just bought my second civic. It's been awhile since I had my last one but I have a couple of Q's. I have a 93 lx. I want to remove my gov and rev limiter (don't ask why). I saw what happened last time someone asked and I wasn't impressed on how you treated them. I just want a straight and simple answer to my question. The other question I have is, my idle RPM's when the car is cold, are close to 400 - 500. It's almost slow enough to stall the car. Other than adjusting the idle what other causes of low idle are there for that engine?

To take off your rev-limiter, you can simply plug a lap-top to if you have the program for obd1 and the wire ofcourse and you can pretty much change everything from there...As for your idle..well I don't have an rpm gauge but I could here my engine goin down that low once in a blue moon so I just give a shot of gas and it goes back up.

check ur timing and plugs for ur idle might also be ur fast idle valve or w/e its called(not quite sure how to mess with that one). as for ur "governer" and rev limiter the only way ur gona get rid of ur rev limiter is if u chip ur ecu(not worth it for and lx) and u dont have a speed limiter. and no u cant just plug a laptop to ur ecu to modifie things. check out www.pgmfi.org on how to chip ecus the right way

The low idle is more than just a cold weather prob. Thanks for the link to PGMFI. I need to look into all this a little more thourghly. I'll create another thread once I'm done experimenting.

I'd agree there get chrome if you plan on tuning I think its the best program i've worked with.

Yeah but from everything I've read I will still have to chip my ECU. Is that correct or will chrome allow me to change the values for all my tables without chiping.
