2003 Tahoe LT Subwoofer?

Hi all,

I just got a 2003 Tahoe LT with pretty much all the bells and whistles minus a DVD Player, so it has the Bose system with 6 CD in-dash changer. The cover for the compartment where the jack is stored has what appears to be the shape of a speaker molded in it--this made me think there has to be a factory option for a subwoofer.

Would anyone know where I could get one?

Thanks

Cool subwoofer

The subwoofer in the bose system is located in the center console factory 6.5 inch. Cannot be replaced by after market due to the ohm load set at 2 ohms on all speakers in the vehicle.
Lift the blk cup holder section out and you will see the enclosed woofer box under the factory wires. To add bass in your truck you will have to put a converter to the sub wires then run rcas to an amp and sub box...

Re: 2003 Tahoe LT Subwoofer?

The cutout in the cargo area is for a factory sub, but I'm not sure if there is one in there or even an enclosure to put one in. I removed the factory radio in my Yukon and also upgraded the sub. I purchased a Rockford Fosgate Punch Stage 1 as they can be used in small enclosers. I placed my amp under the front part of the console.

The panel removes easily to find out what's back there.

You can go on ebay and purchase a 2ohm speaker to replace the factory one if you like. There are a few dealers if you look.

Re: 2003 Tahoe LT Subwoofer?

I had a somewhat similar situation on my 02 Tahoe LS but the sub WAS located in the rear above the jack. It was a 2 ohm sub there. I beefed up the sub end of this set up by running the lead off the sub into the inputs of an external amp that I eventually mounted underneath the second row seating. From there, your options can vary depending on what you are looking for. I went with a small ported enclosure with one 8" RF 4 ohm sub and a two channel amp bridged giving me about 150-200 rms of sub to toy with. I have since upgraded, removed the 3rd row seating, and went with two Audiobahn 8" DVC subs in vented enclosures and upgraded the amp to about 400 total RMS. It is SICK! Remarkable sound. Let me know what you decide to do.
