new to cars
Hey out there, my name is Pete and I wanted to say hello and ask a few questions.... I have a 1995 z28 and its my first car (although i'm 22) I used to be all about SUVS untill my friend peeled my eyes open and showed me what a F-body can really do. Everything is bone stock on it (its an auto) and im looking for a good exhaust which isnt loud inside the car but sounds good... also whats the best intake to put on and any interesting tidbits you all can help me out with I'd appreciate a lot! I LOVE my camaro
-Pete

Re: new to cars
Welcome to the forum Pete. If you're looking for an intake I say go with either a K&N kit or a SLP kit both good trusted names. As far as exhaust goes it depends on what you want to do and how much you want to spend. If you want a good name Borla is the way to go, but you'll pay for it. I've heard good things about Magnaflow, Edelbrock and Hooker are pretty decent and I have DynoMax on my car and like it a lot. What are you thinking about doing? The whole system from headers back or just like a cat-back system? Anyways, these are some things to ponder and then do some research on some stuff ya like. Oh yeah, stay away from Flowmaster they are poorly made and sound like crap. Hope I could help...

Re: new to cars
it's all personal preferance. one setup might flow a little better than another but if you don't like the sounds than it's not worth the few extra horses, imo. i love my 3in flowmaster exaust, but i like a rougher tone too. just look onliine for different sound bytes of v8 camaros (don't listen to mustangs, different engine, different sound) and see what you like. thirdgen.org has a section of all different types of exausts on camaros, it'd be a good place to check out.

they all sound horrible to me, that open header sound... i cant stand that sound, sounds like rice crispies in the exhause pipe..., im still trying to find out which 3'' in/out muffler to go with that isnt constantly loud, i like it deep rumble but not loud, i like it on the low side..

Re: new to cars
i like #15884 by magnaflow, but its for the C6 LS-2 corvette.
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...merican&id=364
sounds at the link.
EDIT: BTW, the only real problem with that cat back is well its just under 2k and i dont want my exhaust coming out the center back of my car.
i just want my exhaust to be 3'' from the header collecter back, i also want it to go straight back, i just wish i knew which muffler sounds like that with a 3'' in/out dia. doesnt matter brand, as long as it sounds like that on the ls* engine.
