My Cars Power
I cant find out anything on performance gains for most of my mods so hopefully someone will know. How much horsepower and torque does my 79 camaro with a 305 (stock 165 hp 245 ftlbs.) have with an air intake, edelbrock 600 cfm carburetor, edelbrock performer rpm intake manifold, stock heads, stock cam, edelbrock headers, and edelbrock full exhaust with no cats and no emmissions control valves etc? thanx, i need to know,

Re: My Cars Power
You need Desktop Dyno, it is a program that estimates about what kind of HP and Torque your car will put out with certain mods done to it. It is nice for those of us who can't get to a dyno to see what the car has at the wheels... I ran it with my limited knowledge of your exact car data and it says almost 250 HP and 300 ft/lb but that sounds a little high...
Remember that's at the fly wheel.

Re: My Cars Power
i didn't know that intake and exaust could add 85 hp and 55 ft/lb, must have been really really restrictive

Re: My Cars Power
Well, I also thought that was a little high and I had to Guesstimate a few figures on his car that I don't know so that may have thrown it off a bit. But he also did the Carburator and Intake Manifold so it could still be pumping out quite a bit more power than stock.

Re: My Cars Power
that program sounds pretty cool for planning a car out. don't mean to hyjack this thread but could you put in a 92 rs 305, 127,800 miles, with hedman headers, 3in exaust, open air element?

Re: My Cars Power
It says about 225 HP and 300 Ft/lbs but once again I'm making assumptions about your car. This program needs info on the block, heads, compression, induction, exhaust, and Camshaft it uses all this to estimate the hp and torque.

=====================================
this would be my guess also........ there is no way a 1979 era 305 with intake and exhaust mods will bring 250hp. 190 to 200 tops. 1979 was a bad year for heads and cam. Now if were a 1983 or 1984 (L69 code) 305, it would be different.
