Listen..im in like the most terrible situation ever...i dont know why but my car recently started doing this for the past 2 months or so..okay i had my radiatior changed because my car was overheating all the time and plus it had a leak in it..so my dads friend changed it then im not sure if they did something to it or something but when i got it back the car turns on right..it can stay in idle but in park..when i shift to the "drive" gear it turns off on me..it reverses good though without a problem...i dont know whats going on..i just had a tuneup this morning change all spark plugs, changed the oil and filtered it, changed the air filter..changed the fan belt, took transmission oil out (since there was too much) cleaned the carborator and did something with some can looking thing that looks like a soda can that had gas in it i dont know what it was called it was for the gasoline though, my moms friend did the tuneup, we figured that would be the problem and still we put it in drive and it turns off..we checked oil water everything god im so desperate for help and i dont want anyone charging me the wrong thing since i dont know jack about cars..anyone got any advice?

i hav a loose wire that looks like that but its loose near the battery and its other half is going to some box looking thing some small box..but we couldnt find where that wire went into we were thinking thats prolly why the car would reverse but not go in drive..my car is 1993 grand prix 3.1 multiport v6 engine.. i dont know what a fuel pressure is but i just got done testing it again to see maybe if it would work and still does the same thing weird i can reverse but when i hit driv3e it dyes on me even on overdrive..when i hit neutral its okay or when i put it on the "1" or the "2" gear..btw can i drive it on those gears instead of drive? or is that not safe? i dont know what fuel pressure is but u think it might have to do with um fuel injectors? if so i can buy new ones and try to replace them myself..(if i even know where there at) you see it can be a small problem but i dont want a mechanic taking my money(the little that i have) and exploiting me since i dont know much about cars..

well i called my mom and asked her if i could drive it in "2" or "1" and her friend immedietely got on the phone and said" DONT DO THAT" that ill mess up the transmission or some shit like that. Well like all the other gears except for "overdrive and drive" work. I put it in neutral stays on. I put it in the others and it stays on then i shift to drive and it kicks then dies..I give it about less then 10 secs before it dies. It doesnt sound like it wants to stay on in other words so i hit the gas to make it stay on then that meter for the other gage circle looking thing. My friend calles it the "rpm" well anyways i hit the gas when it trys to die on me and it doesnt go about the number "2" and boom it makes a noise then cuts me off right there..What im asking for is like, do you guys think its a minor problem or that its a big problem? The mechanic told me that it was the converter or something like that. But i think he is lying to me. He said some shit about converter to switch it out and they cost about 500 dollars WTF? Im not about to do that when it can be a minor problem..Sorry for wasting you guys time , i just dont wanna get screwed in the end though especially sicne i dont know jackshit about cars.. The weird thing is that it didnt start doing that till the new radiator was put on..does radiator have anything to do with it?

i heard that the car wouldnt turn on period if that was the problme or something like that because it does go in other gears but not over drive or drive
