MPG's

To get the best or most accurate estimation for miles per gallon, should you reset the MPG button on the dash when you fill up every time or just let it go and it all averages out? I put in a K&N filter today and would hope to see a little increase in mpg's. Thanks.

Re: MPG's

Fill up the tank and reset the button on the tripometer. When you fill up again note the gallons of fuel and then divide the miles driven by gallons used. This is the most accurate especially if you can return to the same gas station and park in approximately the same position. The computer miles are pretty accurate but the other way is usually the best. If you want to stretch it out a little bit and average over a few tanks then just track the mileage and gallons used and divide as before. Should give you average miles per gallon over a long distance.

If you sign up for gasbuddy.com they have a fuel logbook that you can use. Then you can avg out the miliage that way.
