1993 VW Fox GL Problems
Hey Everyone!
We're tired of just giving money to the mechanic and not know entirely what they did to fix our 93 Fox, so we joined this forum which helped us out tremendously.
Anyways, here the problem:
Our clutch went out so we bought a new one at Kragen and gave it to our mechanic. He charged us labor and replaced the clutch. I noticed that when I was driving off with the new clutch, that shifting was not as smooth as it once was. You would have to use more force to put it in gear this time around.
Oh, and when I was about to pull up into my driveway, which is on an incline, the FOX died on me. Tried to restart it, but it wouldn't turn over. My mechanic told me that the engine is probably being flooded. He doesn't know for sure what it could be, but says it might be either the fuel filter or the fuel pump. I never notice this sputtering/flooding problem happening before the clutch went out, so I was a little hesitant before having AAA tow the car back to the garage.
What do you guys think the problem is? Is it the fuel pump? Or is it teh fuel filter? Or should I just get a new mechanic?
Our mechanic has been very good with us in the past and he doesn't seem like a scoundrel, but maybe he just doesn't know as much about VW Foxes as he thinks.
Anyways, the cars in his hands now. What should we do??
