New wheels, getting pressure warning light???

Posting this ? for a freind:

2005 Highlander which he put aftermarket rims on.

Now every time he starts vehicle he has to reset the low tire pressure warning light.

Does anyone know how to satisfy this alarm?

Tire pressure is OK, same as before with stock wheels.

TIA, Tom

Probably because the original RIMS from the Highlander has the Tire-Pressure-Monitoring system built in.. either strapped to the rim itself or the sensor is connected to the valve-stem of the rim. You'll have to dismount the old tire and look at the rim itself. Does it have a square-looking thing connected to the valvestem?

Re: New wheels, getting pressure warning light???

Tire monitoring system for Highlander does not measure pressure. It measures tire rotation speed via ABS sensors and if one tire rotates at different speed than others, then the light comes on. If all 4 tires are low on air, the light will not come on.
