Please help me is this a transmission problem. 1993 - Escort 1.9L 2dr hatchback. Automatic Transmission
Left intersection - front end bucked wildly - then grinding noise - from engine. Shut car off - restarted and car would engage in gear but would not move - given gas whole engine would torque forward or backward - but would not move.
Neutral - could not move car as it seemed engine or transmission locked.
After leaving car off for some time was able, by going from reverse to drive- transmission unlocked unlocked and was able to limp car home. Next day - car goes into reverse hard shift - revs have to be high to inch car forward in drive or low. Also some whining and grinding noise as if starter is not disengaging.
Could this be starter , selenoid or transmission problem.
Please help

Assuming that it is full of tranny fluid I'd say your transmission went out. :disappoin

Yes I checked the transmission fluid and it was topped up okay - As far as fluid is concerned 0 I did find fresh traces of tranny fluid on the transmission casing.
