Air Conditioning HELPdahobbs 08-19-2005, 05:52 PM I hope this can be of some help to someone out there. Most people are really scared and/or intimidated by air conditioning systems. You CAN purchase most all of the parts for the compressor and rebuild it yourself. I have done many of them in the past. The compressors are so simple, its really dumb not to mention very expensive to buy a new or remanufactured a/c compressor from an autoparts store. Most fail due to the following: Front shaft seal leaks: Replacement around $9 Leaking "O" ring: around $8 Bad Internal bearings: approx $26 Bad Clutch Bearing: approx $45 Bad clutch: around $50 Most parts I purchase locally but there are several suppliers online, also alot of John Deere equipment also use the same compressors. Here are a few sites: http://www.polarbearinc.com/PBPC/ho...s_GA_Metal.html !! Seals and such: http://www.apairinc.com/iVIEW.asp?C...CAT=Nippondenso http://www.apairinc.com/main.asp (there main page) Bearings: http://bearingsdirect.com/products/ Condensor Lookup: http://webbase.transpro.com/coolcat/ TSB's & Recalls: http://www.alldata.com/recall/make/ I hope this helps at least ONE person out there save some $$$, time and stress. Dave Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
