3ed gen 3SGTE into 2end gen mr2ZerO281eCHo 08-18-2005, 07:19 PM Hi, I might be buying a 1991 mr2 shell, and i was thinking about puting a third generation motor in it, is that possible? ghetto7o2azn 08-19-2005, 12:42 AM yeah.. people do it all the time.. but it might be easier to just find a nicely conditioned mr2 turbo and start from there ZerO281eCHo 08-19-2005, 12:53 AM do u know if it needs any welding of any sort, or does is it just drop in, cause i cant afford an mr2 right now, so imam buy a shell, and pay it off, and then the motor, and pay that off, then have it put in for the spring ac427cpe 08-19-2005, 03:37 AM the engine drops in, but the wiring won't be fun. JekylandHyde 08-19-2005, 08:14 AM Under no circumstances would I ever recommend going to a Gen III. That being said, you will need a lot more than just the engine. You will need the wiring harness and ECU as well. If your "shell" was from the NA MR2, you are going to need a transmission, axles and gauge cluster as well. ZerO281eCHo 08-19-2005, 01:44 PM so, yall saying to stick with a the second gen motor. JekylandHyde 08-19-2005, 03:12 PM Yes. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
