I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix. I have replaced the tie rod ends, rotors, and brake pads. I had a 4 wheel alignment done. The front end still vibrates when I brake at speeds above 60. I figure it vibrates even lower than 60 I just don't feel it as bad. Any ideas?

I would check the upper strut mounts and the ball joints. Also, when you changed the brakes, did you properly torque the lug nuts? Not torquing the lugs evenly will allow uneven expansion of the metal in the cast rotor which will cause them to warp.

Checked the strut mounts and ball joints. Both were ok. Yes I did torque the lugs properly. Looks like both rotors are warped. What could have caused them to both warp at the same time? I bought the 3 month warranty rotors from Autozone. 5 months after I purchased them, they both warp. Sounds like a scam.

the cheap brand rotors are made of inferior steel, and are thinner than oem or quality aftermarket rotors. I would bet that is the problem. Take them back and bitch, they'll cave in and swap them for the better ones, if you'll pay the difference. Also check your caliper hardware, as it's possible worn slide bushings could be contributing to your pulsation, but I doubt it. I would bet the cheap rotors are the whole problem.

i agree. get at least some Brembo OEM blanks or something good like that. You also might need wheel bearings.

I checked the slide bushing. They looked and felt ok. The wheel bearing I think are good too. I called Autozone and spoke to the manager. He said too bad. I will never by from Autozone again. Appears they make a product to last the warranty period and then it goes bad. Again, sounds like a scam. I will go get new rotors, from Advance or NAPA this time.

Go over the Managers head, if you get corporate involved, they will cave and take care of you. I don't care what their "warranty" is, there is no reason a rotor should warp after 5 months, unless you drive like a doofus, and you don't sound like a doofus.

i had exact problem have you changed your c-v axles?
if so buy them from advanced i did and the part number on the box was right but wrong nuber on axle when got it out of the box it fit like it was suppose to but at 6o mph vibrate awful about inch to short had to take it back between both sides exchanged axle 5 times finally e-mailed head office made them buy me a GM axle and 225.00 for labour like a idiot iwent back the other day had popping in left front went to assvanced and bought wheel bearing did good for two days no popping then third day same thing like i told distict manager NAPA YOU PAY A LITTLE MORE BUT they pay for labor if it goes out 2nd time I am taking wheel bearing back out getting money then going to NAPA unstead of going CRAZY with advace parts.

Turns out it was the brake pads and/or rotors. Contacted District Manager. He swaped them for the best brake pads and rotors they had. No more vibration. When I put the new ones on, I could see on the caliber where the pads had been vibrating.

An absolutely clean and rust free wheel hub is important to prevent rotor runout, frequently overlooked issue.
