sucks

My mr2 is having a serious problem! The alternator is good, yet I am still getting a HUGE power drain. When I put a volt meter on the battery and and turn the ignition to the "on" position the volts drop the crazy from 12 to 11 and the a huge jump to 8 in 10 to 15 min. When I actually turn it over the battery goes from 12 to 11 and makes a slower decline till the car kills over. What I am wondering is if there has been a history with MR2's having eletrical problems, and what might be strong enough too pull a alternator and battery down this hard.

Re: sucks

try checking to see if theres brown or sludge in your battery...hook it up to a battery charger over night and see if the water boils over, if it does, then the cells in your batery are bad, some battery acid will come out, dissolve it with bakingsoda put in water (acts as a base)....also cehck your lternator fuse, it could be working , but not giving power to your battery becuase of that

Re: sucks

I know its not the battery because I have tryed three different ones, one coming out of my moms brand new trail blazer. I didnt know that there was an actual fuse for the alternator though. Is it one of those fuses that runs in a wire or and actual fuses?

Re: sucks

it should be under your main box, its blue and its a 100 amp one, if its loose or not connecting good, then your alternator may not be charging your battery(s) right or at all
