Rear Brake Adjustment

I have a 2000 Cavalier. Are the rear brakes self adjusting, or do I need to adjust manually??

Re: Rear Brake Adjustment

The rear brakes self adjust, but the parking brake and its cables do not.

Re: Rear Brake Adjustment

Most of the time the parking brake will not need adjustment. Just adjust your rear brakes and by doing that the parking brake will adjust somewhat. I clean the dust out of mine by spraying with the garden hose. I then dry it with the leaf blower. I just saved a couple of bucks on a can of brake cleaner and it works just as well. Then adjust the brakes manually because the self adjusters never seem to work very well once the car has a little age on it. Lube the star adjuster while you're in there.
