Sounds like a sensor, but which one? Coolant temp sensor, Fan sensor???

Car will run for 20 minutes until the antifreeze backs up to the puke tank with the temp gauge grasping into the red. The Fan (hyd) does not kick on and the A/c compressor kicks on and off.

Check your fluid level (ATF). Fan should run at 1,100 rpm when you short OP1 and E1 terminals on data link connector. When fan is running because of being shorted, see if there is foaming in the reservoir tank.

Probably your ECT sensor. Remove the sensor and put it in hot water (80C, 176F). The resistance should be 1.48 - 1.58 ohms.

If ECT sensor is good, check the cooling fan ECU:

What he said, shorting OP1 & E1 turns the powersteering fluid solenoid to high pressure.


If you bridge OP1 & E1, and the fan doesn't go to it's high speed, the plug for the solenoid is unhooked. The plug is located on top of the powersteering pump.

It's the white plug, make sure it's plugged in. Mechanics are bad to un-plug it during belt changes & forget it.
