93 GC v-8 Tranny wont shiftcntryhillbilly 08-13-2005, 05:41 PM I recently purchased a 93 gc with the 5.2 automatic and touchbutton overdrive. Jeep has ran great till last night. I parked the jeep and came back out and it wont go into anygear. The cable is not broke to the tranny, I dropped the pan and the linkage is moving inside the tranny and moving the valve body. But it still dont make any noise feels like its in park all the time. I cant hear any noise coming from it at all. The transfer case seems to be working ok. If I move it to neutral the jeep will roll just fine. Once I lock it in it wont move. I dont know what else to do. Is there any control module that may have went out and keeping it from going in gear? I would appreciate any help I can get. Also this is a cool forum. Who needs a chiltons when you have a formum as good as this.. dksob81 08-13-2005, 11:30 PM How did the fluid look? How was the fluid level? cntryhillbilly 08-13-2005, 11:54 PM Tranny fluid good and clean nothing in pan nice and clean. Fluid was full. Filter looked good also. I had it serviced just 8 mths ago. Just wierd that it drove and shifted fine. Stopped and got gas. Got back in and nothing. Cant feel any gears. cntryhillbilly 08-14-2005, 12:00 AM Also I have ran the codes and comes back 5-5 and from what I understand thats good? I also found a web site that stated that the 46rh has alot of senors that will make it shift arratic or not shift at all but they dont say what is the cause. Here is that web site Thhttp://www.usatransdoctor.com/foreignjeep.htm#46RH%20/%2046RE%20/%2042RE* Thanks dksob81 08-14-2005, 12:38 AM I don't think it is a sensor problem,. Sensor would cause some shifting problems but I don't think it would have much to do with it actually going into gear. if you do not hear a CLUNK (which is normal in jeeps) when you put the tranny in REVERSE then you might have more of a problem then a sensor. cntryhillbilly 08-14-2005, 11:42 PM Well I have spent the whole weekend trying to figure this problem out. All sensor check ok. Guess im looking for a tranny. Anyone have one forsale in the iowa region? I have never had a tranny go all the way out at once where I didnt have at least one gear or reverse. Thanks for all the help. dksob81 08-15-2005, 12:21 AM yea I know exactly what you mean. It seems a lil wierd that all the gears have gone. second check..... Are you sure the shift linkage (at the tranny kever) is moving into gear? and it is making no noise at all when placed in gear, right? cntryhillbilly 08-15-2005, 08:30 PM i went as far as to drop the tranny pan and the linkage is moving inside. I'm at a ropes end. Last resort here is that Im taking off the flywheel cover and making sure that all the bolts aint come off the torque converter. I have never had a tranny loose all the gears and not slip or something before.. dksob81 08-15-2005, 10:26 PM yup that is possible 89ltd 08-17-2005, 12:22 AM could the transfer case be in neutral some how??? dksob81 08-17-2005, 01:48 AM it could be, but I think you would still hear the CLUNK from the transmission when placed in reverse. try pulling straight back on the Transfer Case shifter elver and then place tranny in gear, do you get a response? NOTE: you might have to put transmission in NEUTRAL before shifting the Transfer Case. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
