fuel gauge spiking past "full"

I have a 1994 Nissan Pathfinder and just added some aftermarket white dash gauges to the front instrument panel, but once I put the panel back in, the fuel gauge goes from empty to way past full and stays there until the car is turned off. Any help would be AWESOME.....do I need to get it calibrated????? or something else?????
