99 ga se starts then stallsforney 08-12-2005, 03:45 AM I Have A 1999 Pontiac Grand Am Se V6. The Car Starts Fine At First But When You Turn It Off And Try To Restart It, It Stalls, Then It Starts Or Sometimes I Have To Let It Sit For A Few Minutes Then It Will Start. I Have Had A New Ignition Switch, Fuel Pump, And Alternator. The Mechanic Also Checked The Fuel Pressure And It Was Fine. The Car Runs Fine When You Can Get It To Start. Also, My Gas Gauge Is Messed Up. Someone Please Help! GTP Dad 08-12-2005, 10:55 AM Does the security light come on and stay on when this happens? This sounds like a problem with the passlock system. Can be a real pain to get straightned out. If it does not come on look at the ignition module. forney 08-13-2005, 01:08 AM The Light Does Not Come On. The Mechanic Reset The Security System, I Dont Know If Thats The Same And The Passlock. Alos, I Forgot To Mention That If You Give It Gas It Will Start. HawaiiRap 08-14-2005, 07:18 PM Oh oh... this sounds like my '99 grand am. Sometimes a start and then a stall (rpm's dip after initial surge at start.. sometimes dips to low to a stall). If I turn off and pause a moment.. sometimes ok.. but sometimes that security light starts blinking and then I have to wait until it stops before a re-start (which is usually ok). Happens about once a week, or so, not every time. Takes about 10 minutes for that light to stop blinking. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
