need an opinion
trying to figure out if i should get a 95 integra gs-r or 91 turbo mr2. Kind of cautious about the mr2 because of the engine positioning and curious about how easy it would be to work on and how long the engine would last with the turbo. Have lots of info on the teg so if you could throw all the info about the mr2 you had at me that would be greatly appreciated.

MR2 is definitely a fun car to drive. Engine placement has nothing to do with it if you know how to control your car. If you drag at all, the launching is much better than a FWD car; it's really quite nice. The motors in these cars last pretty long and can handle a lot of power so long as you do it right, although I know for a fact that as long as you aren't pushing it beyond its power limits, you can beat up a B series motor and it will continue to run strong. MR2's have a nicer feel and better driver positioning as well.
As far as speed performance is concerned, it all depends on what you want to do with it. An MR2 with minimal mods can get you running into the high 13's. You will need a few more mods and a bit more cash to get an Integra to that range.
In the end, you should probably buy an MR2 if you're an MR2 fan and are willing to learn. If you just want something to rice, stick with the teg. A lot of people are so used to honda/acura and it seems they end up being unhappy with RWD turbo cars, especially the MR2.

Just a very basic opinion: Toyota MR2's are sports cars...Acura Integras are riceboy cars. I would go with the MR2 (I have an '85 MR2, purrs like a kitten)...Acura Integras tend to sound like angry beehives when any exhaust (except for the stock one) is put on. Also, MR2's give a lil bit more "UMPH!" for less, than a front wheel drive rice burner with over two grand put into it. More traction on the MR2 part due to it's mid-engine, and is also perfect for canyon runs (mountain passes).
These are just basic, off the top of my head opinions...I can go technical if you want..

I can install a few things, haven't really had a car to play with. Quick learner and good with machines. I wonder if it will be, if at all, more challenging to install things on an mr2? I am looking to buy a 91 turbo keeping in mind. I will probly want to drop in an intercooler, whole new exhaust, maybe new cams, nothing really serious. Will it be more challenging to install it in and mr2 rather than a fwd car??

nope. an engine is an engine, no matter where it is.
mr2 is good if you want a real sporty car. if you are into the teg thing, get that instead. it comes down to what you like more.
of course, we are all going to push for the mr2

Re: need an opinion
you wont need cams for a while in a mr2 ..... GS-r are nice but my stock 93 turbo is much faster than a 2000 gsr so i dont know if you want a sleeper got with a 92 sentra SER my friend has one and he beats lightly modded gsr all day but cars are like shoes you should buy something the comfterable to you not something that everone else is lol good luck

Re: need an opinion
my friend has a mid 90's gsr which is a pretty fun car but I still prefer my rear wheel drive handling over fwd... the integra feels more like a regular easy handling city car but my mr2 (88 na) feels a lot more like a race car with much more agressive handling... as far as working on I also own a civic and much prefer working on mr2, toyota did a very good job designing these imo

Re: need an opinion
i guess its opinion but theres a reason shops charge $90 per hour on mid engine cars as apposed to $60 <note these are false numbers but thats the aprox. diffetence its like time and a half for the mechanics> but in any case i still bought mine knowing that lol

haha!..Yeah, you can expect us all to go for the MR2. Really it's all up to you. You should learn a bit more about both cars, an weigh out the differences that might hinder you....but I'm still saying go for the MR2.

Unless its the oil filter on the MR2...Damn, that thing was a bitch to get off. I had to go to like 3 different auto parts stores to get an oil filter wrench/cap...and they STILL DIDN'T WORK...so I just poped a nice sharp screwdriver through it....and it came out fine (it took me an hour though)...
