engine keeps cutting out in 88 polo

I have a 1988 Polo, the engine keeps cutting out. If anyone could tell me where i could find a manual for it or how to take to air filter of to adjust the thing that controls the gas taht goes into the engine would be appreciated. any suggestoons would also be appreciated thansk

I have a manual for you but I live in South Africa! Check your immobiliser. It is usually the culprit in this case. It can be your hall effect sensor or lots of other things lol!
