Radio wont take CD and digital clock fades

my 97 grand am in having radio problems. it stopped taking a CD so u cant put it in and the Digital clock on it is normal on teh left side but fades out as it goes to the right....anyone know what can cause this...ive already check all my fuses, all good.

sounds like that GM box is about ready to give up the ghost.
I'd look for and aftermarket one, because your original one sounds like the little band that operates the motor to feed and eject the cd is broken, and the LED display might be going out. not so much the parts, but the labor to have your unit repaired, and you can probably buy a new aftermarket MP3 unit.
Sony, Dual, and I think Kenwood have red displays to keep with the Pontiac lighting color scheme.
