Those two might be the same, but I am pretty sure there are two different GM 3.4L engines... Maybe not though I could be wrong.

I wouldnt think so, I mean the 3.8/3.4 engine that is in the Monte Carlo is also in.. the Impala, Malibu, Grand Am, Grand Prix. So you bet your ass it isnt different.

Depends, there are RWD 3.4's and FWD 3.4's. The FWD ones have OHC's, which makes the block and everything completely different from the RWD one. If your Impala is RWD (as I'm assuming it is), then yeah, it should fit fine.

I retract my previous statement. You have the FWD 3.4. Not sure if it's a SOHC or DOHC. But it's completely different from that in the Camaro's.

It is a DOHC, since it is a V6

Well I wasn't sure. I've seen some 3.4's that were DOHC, and some were SOHC. Heck, some Mustangs even got SOHC and they were 4.6 V8's. Doesn't really matter if it's an I4, V6, V8, V10, etc etc. If it's an OHC setup, then it can be equipped with either or.
