A/C problems

I have a 97 Z71 with a 5.7. I recently had to have some body work done after hitting a bear. The body shop had to remove the condensor to straighten it out and then recharge the system. When I picked my truck up, the compressor no longer turns off when you turn the fan switch off. A/C switch stays lit up also and should go out with fan switch off. Body shop is saying the control head in the dash is bad but it worked prior to the accident. Is the control head the problem and what could have happened to cause it to go out. Insurance won't pay unless it's accident related and shop says they didn't do anything to cause the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
