Grand Am Won't Stay RujnningLostone01 08-07-2005, 09:54 PM Hi all. Here is a question for you all out there. I have a 94 Grand Am 6 cylinder. Now I ran this car hard everyday for a year with no major problems. I parked it a month ago to do some much needed work to it. Unfortunately I had no time to do it til now. But when I went to start the car, it will start up fine and go into reverse fine but when I try to put it into drive all it will do is spit and sputter and then shut off. It will not stay running in drive at all! Any ideas on what could be causing this? Anything would be helpful right now. I'm sure this probably isn't your case, but you may just check status of plug wires, as a vehicle can fire and idle as even a 3-cyl. (lopey even w/comp control)rather than a six; but won't stay running. hope this helps, ctesla Lostone01 08-13-2005, 01:51 PM Car has been sitting for a month but it has been started up. The car will start with no problems now BUT it wants to shut off when I put it into gear. After a while of running in idle, it will go into reverse but I can't get it to stay running in drive at all. As soon as I shift to drive it shuts down. It obviously has gas and starts. Any clue what could be causing this? The car ran very well and was a daily driver when it was parked. xeroinfinity 08-13-2005, 05:21 PM the TCC or a valve sticking. Do a search for TCC and you'll find some info, I'm certain. \,,/ vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
