Intergra VS Skyline

I'm looking to buy a project car which will be ready for the Performance mag 4 and Rotary South ISland Champs in April!
I'm looking at a 94 Integra Vtec or a 94 Skyline GTst they're both reasonably cheap so just want to know what you guys think!!
I had already asked this in the Honda Section, but i think it will be a bit one sided so this way its more even lol
So just tell me your opinions on this!!!!

Sure, the Skyline GT-S might not seem the real mccoy or real deal compared to the GTR, since it lacks AWD and .1l or half a litre less, depending on which year, on its engine.

But, it still comes turbocharged with 250hp and its RB engine is just as tunable as its 2.6l counterpart.

The Integra Type R is an easier car to drive and pretty tunable, but the Skyline GT-S it an all around better performer, except maybe on really wet surfaces and snow.

Re: Intergra VS Skyline

Its going to be a show car and a cruise car when they are on!
So really its not going to be doing much driving!
Its first cruise will be the one for the 4and Rotarys, they are both reliable cars and they both come up nice so thats why i needs some opinions! lol

Re: Intergra VS Skyline

I think for what you want it for the Honda would be the go.

If it was my car I'd take the Skyline hands down as a driver's car, but I think you could be more individual in how you modify it with the Honda. Also I'm assuming you're a girl and I think an Integra suits a girl much more than a Skyline. Just my opinion.

If you want it to be a show car then it might be a better idea to take the Integra Type R. Since people would think of your ride more highly as a Top Teg than a mid-ranged Skyline. Also, the Integra has a huge aftermarket of not only performance but also external styling.

But thats just my assessment.

Btw, is your avatar a pic of your Prelude? If so maybe you can have some variety with the Skyline or if you like the Honda brand and want a newer incarnation of your Prelude then get the Integra.

Re: Intergra VS Skyline

The Sounds for the car have already been bought! (all pioneer) The paint colouring has been chosen so as soon as the car is bought it will be heading to the panel beaters then the sounds tech will pic it up and then off Jap Imports to design a kit! I have the cash ready for it! I just don't want to make a wrong decision and end up with a car that i don't like or that doesn't met what i expect from it! So pretty much need all the opinions i can get lol

I love my Honda's, but then my secret love is the Skyline!
I love the Skyline for its power and huge body, and beefy fronts, but then i like the Integra for its power aswell for a small car and the fact it would be alot cheaper to kit than the Skyline!
I already hava prelude which is my everyday car, which i think i'm too attached to!
I was thinking of getting a newer a prelude, but over here Preludes lose the Value very quickly so i scraped that, but with the other 2 they seem to keep their value!
And with the other 2 and if i win something at the shows, alot of the time the mags and overseas showcar buyers are there and offer some nice prices for show cars! so ican come out better!
But thanks for your comment it does help whats running through my head lol

id say since you already have a fwd n/a car to get the skyline... definately a much differnt car offering more power, rwd, and lets face it... bragging rights as well

either one is a nice choice, but whichever you choose best of luck with the project

RWD is better than FWD regardless. Not to mention that skyline motor has more power and everything. Integras make good Daily drivers though. since they can be driven fairly hard and still not break (alteast my friend's doesn't)

Re: Intergra VS Skyline

It all comes down if you want to try something new, more expensive or if you think you would feel better with something that is closer to what you drive daily. Also whether you want to be Brand loyal or just appreciate different types of sports cars comes into play too.

The Skyline and Integra both have large aftermarkets, even though I think the Integra has a larger selection of bodykits. With the Skyline you can surely cram in more audio while with the Integra it would be cheaper to do any custom upholstery.

Even if it is not a GTR the Skyline GT-S is still a big, mean, intimidating and just an overall feeling of owning machine that could feel like it is worth more, even though that can with the Integra after much customizing. With an Integra I guess it would be more of a feeling of exclusiveness, underdog and judging by your username (I could be wrong) brand loyalty.

Remember people this is for New Zealand not the US so the Integra is less common in the popular tuning circle (even though probably still quite common) compared to the Skyline, is it? I could be wrong.

Good luck with what you choose, regardless.

You say you've picked the colour already, what is it? Some cars look heaps better in certain colours and vice-versa.

I think the skyline is the better bet for you, as unique as the teg could be...theres a huge aftermarket for both so thats not a concern

If its not going to be doing much driving than the fwd vs rwd difference also isn't an issue...The in my opinion it all comes down to what you think will look better with the mods you are going to put on...I think the potential for the skyline is alot better than for the teg, and I also find I like the looks of the skylines more (mabe thats cause ive seen exactly 1 in my life)

90% of the cars at the "import" shows here are either Skylines, Integras, Civics, WRX's or GSR/EVO Lancers.

If you want a nice easy project that people will go "oh look another one" when they see it then a Skyline or an Integra is a pretty safe bet.
As a show car I can see no reason why you would choose one of the other.
Its a purely personal choice, and asking people on an internet forum will not help anything.

If your a true enthusiast then you will have your own reasons why you prefer one over the other.
If you have to ask the advice of others then you should ask yourself are you doing this because you really love these two particular cars, or because it happens to be trendy to be a female and "building" your "own" show car at the moment?
By building I mean paying for.

Re: Intergra VS Skyline

94 GTS Really wont get you noticed unless put an R kit an the engine to go with lol. Why not just get an R in the first place you live in NZ and they are around 9k used.
