Wheels are stuck... WTF?

Ok, so my friend and I went to go do his back brakes yesterday. We got the back end in the air and unbolted the wheels, but niether would come off. There was quite a bit of corrosion and shit on the backs of the wheels and on the brake rotors. We sprayed penetrating oil on the wheel/disk area and held some wood up to the wheel and beat on it for a while, but both of the wheels were stuck? Could the corrosion be whats holding the wheels on so hard? What should I do to get them apart? Thanks guys.

So the wheels are unbolted and just sitting there but won't move? Take a rubber mallet and pound on the inside until it falls off.

yea either that or use a wire brush to knock off some of that crap if you dont care about scuffing up the wheels some.

Or just kick the wheel. It causes more vibration then anything else and is really easy. Kinda like a po-po knock :p.

just kick it? hell no, i'm prety sure it wont make the wheels come off, trust me when i changed the rims in my rs, they stuck as hell, me and my cousin kept trying for about 1 hour, we tried spraying pb blaster wd-40 nothing would work, untill my uncle who acts like he doesn't like my car, started hitting the wheel real hard with bigg ass pole (sp)

Yeah, I did kick the wheels a few times, nothing happened. Next time we will get it up in the air and beat on it hard from the back. We have be spraying penetrating oil/ WD40 on there all day and will a couple times per day until we can get time to lift it again. How can we keep this from happening again? Thanks for your help guys.

Try a rubber mallet, hit the top where the wheel and rim meet, keep hitting in the same spot this should break the seal.

Yeah, I stood with my back facing the car and kicked back so my heel hit the wheel. We are going to be able to work on the car tomorrow, tuesday, and wednesday and we'll deal with the wheels probably tomorrow. Thanks again for all the help.

jack it up and take the bottom on ur foot lean iunder the car and kick it with the bottom of ur foot, if you can get under the car that is.... i work at sears and thats how you get off steel rims, those shits are on there like they are welded.... just kick hard... if that doesnt work, sludge hammer to the inside bottom of the tire.

I had the same problem after I housed my car for winter.

How I did it:
1) Brush the extraneous crap off where the wheel and hub meet.
2) Use PB Blaster.
3) Smack a big mallet, I named mine Dangerous Dave, near where the rim meets the tire. If you have rims that you're worried about damaging smack more on the tire. You could get some nice rebound. Smack on one side, then the other. You don't want to wedge it in. A couple good knocks and it's pop off. The real PITA are fused rotors ;)

What doesn't work:
1) Crowbar.

Notes:
The farther your car is jacked up the more room you'll have to swing, but the higher the center of gravity will be. You can hit the thing hard enough that the car moves a bit, and that makes me nervous. Good idea to keep your body out from under the car.

We finally got the god damned oil pan gasket replaced today, so it was time for those wheels to come off. We have been spraying lots of WD40 and brake cleaner these past couple days in hopes of getting some of the shit off. We got the back end up pretty high (we pushed/smacked/leaned on the car to make sure it was safe) and I just layed under it and gave a good sharp kick to the back of the wheel and the bastards just came right off! Thanks agian for all your help guys!
