tire or tires?

Well, heres what happened, I was at a friends house and left my gagt outside overnight , some fucker slashed my right rear tire. Im wondering if i have to buy both rear tires now , or wether i can get away with buying one new one.

My tread depth is about 3/32nds less than brand new tires,

Thanks ,

one will suffice.
a matching one is preferred, as a mis-matched tread will slightly "drag" and/or possibly make a different road noise, but being on the rear of the vehicle (since it is front wheel drive/steer/ and brake) it is not TOO critical.
if you decide to shop for a decent set (pair) of new or used, save your rear good tire, as it may come in handy swapping out one of the matching fronts down the road...

Re: tire or tires?

Fukin vandals! people who do these things are about as low as a human could go. its not like your car can defend it's self. But replacing the one is better than replaceing all four. It should work fine with the one replacment. I had 12k mls on a set and one developed a sidewall defect, large bubble, and that wasnt good. really eat up the other three rather quick. they were Good year RS's they sucked in the rain/snow but were great for burn outs on dry land. I now use Good year Assurance, they're great all around wet/dry & snow. an 80,000 mile tire for around 180$ each.thats for a big 225/50r 16".

One will be ok, but you really should get two. Try to at least match it.
