injector testing (in car)

i was told by a mechanic that the inject resitance on a 91 lumina w/3.1
was supposed to be 14.8-to 15.8 ohms

is this correct?

i tested mine w/a fluke digital ohm ac/dc meter
the ohms can only be read in the 1k setting
the readins i got when testing them in the car wire harness un plugged
was 12 except for the #6 injector it said 2
(i tested the injectors in my old cutlass just to compare
they were all 12 it runs fine)

so i tested with my anolog radio shack tester
they all tested closer to what the mechanic said
depending on witch setting i had the ohms on
am i doing something wrong
does any body know what the restance should be?
or how to test for a bad one in car with ohm meter
can you diagnos a bad injector in the car like that?

car is not running very well spitts and sputters still like decribed in my other posting
i put the map sensor out of the lumina into my blazer to test it
the blazer ran fine w/ the lumina's sensor
not getting any codes

just wondering if any body can help

Re: injector testing (in car)

You can do a fuel injector balence test on them. If you get 12ohms across the board, all but for one that gives you 2 ohms. You probably have a bad injector.

A fluke multimeter is like a mercedes. It dont get much better.

Resistance values on injectors doesnt matter as much as are they all about the same? Injector resistance will change with temp range. If you have 5 at 12ohms and 1 at 2ohms, you got a bad injector.
Another way to test them is listening for clicking noise at each injector with a stethoscope. Sounds crazy, but it works!

i did listen to them before testing them
with a screw driver
the only ones i could get to with the manifold on were #1and #6
both were clicking (or so i thought)
but when i removed the maniford to look at other injectors
and tested them 12 is what i got w/ the non-adjustable meter
then tried with a different fluke adjustable ohm meter
was better #6 shows 2.2 ohms but its clicking
that one must be realy broke
i hope
haven't done much testing of fuel injection
another on said 11.6 low side of being good

so i think im replacing them all
found a site were injectors are cheep
hopfully they are as good as they say they are

fixed it bad injector

thanks all
