timing belt

just wondering, when is a good time to change the timing belt? i ahve a 94 ls w/ 165,872 miles on it. i bought it w/ 138,000 on it and i don't know when it was last changed. i dont run my car that hard and i change my oil regularly for the most part. im getting new cams and cam gears around november or december so i was wondering if i wil be okay until then or if i should go ahead and get it done. i know if my timing belt breaks then im screwed so i dont wanna end up wasting an engine.
