Question Transmission Question?!?!

I have a 96 Dodge Neon and it has a standard transmission and it will go into every gear and the car moved liek 3 feet and this little metal bar about 3 inches long with a hole on the end came rolling out from under the car im not very car educated but would like to know what's up eith it....everyone ive asked about it has told me something different....hope someone can help with that little bit of info

Probably a bracket of some sort...do you have a pic of it?

I have no idea. it looks spalled up like there used to be something rubbing on it in two locations.

It's your diff pin. They will slide out of the tranny...time for a new tranny. Make sure you have the diff pin welded into place this time.

I might be able to help you with that because I'm an auto mechanic with 30 years experience, but I'm going to need a little more information. Is the bar flat? round? what exactly does it look like? A picture would be nice, do you own a digital camera?

Yeah that is definately the diff pin I have seen 3 of those come out of the 3 different transmissions that I have had to replace.Very bad ju ju.
