95 Rodeo Tranny Woes UPDATE

Okay, new happenings today with this thing....I was in the bank drive-thru teller line waiting and I was noticing that there was a slight surge in the engine RPM at idle...like maybe 200 RPMS in park. I went to pull away and when I pushed the gas pedal, it wanted to stall out on me. I let it up quick enough to keep that from happening, but as soon as I pushed the pedal again, it wanted to do the same thing. It sounded like it was starved of fuel to me. Here's the trick: When I put it in park and shut it off, then restart it, it's usually okay but it is a recurring issue that has my wife paranoid to drive it anywhere. Anyone have any ideas? Is it fuel related? It kinda seems that way to me but I want to be sure before I go dropping any money at all into this thing.
