Faulty Suspension and smokey smell on camry 97 v6.

Hello People,

I observed i have a smokey smell inside my car whenever i accelerate vigourously with my windows wound down, i've checked my entire exhaust out with my mechanics to be sure i dont have any leakages and they confirmed i dont. Where could the smoke getting into the car be coming from? i dont experience this when i'm driving with the windows wound up and my Ac on.

Also, my camry's handling has been poor of late.whenever i drive on slightly rough or bumpy road, the rear of my car tends to bounce, i dont experience as much bounce at the front, i definitly know my suspensions are suspect, but i need a futher confirmation before i spend wrongly. Can anybody tell me a test or two i could carry out to confirm this? I'm not sure what the following parts do(rear struts, stabillizer bar link, stabilliser bar bushings, struts and mounts.) which of them is suspect in this condition and which should i change to get my car back to the beautiful handling it had.

Just based on raw experience, since your car is 8 years old now, I would recommend that you install new struts at all four wheels. Another indicator of worn out struts is flat spotted tires.

The smokey smell? ..........I got no clue....sorry.

It's more than likely oil buring on the exhaust.

Happens every time you change the oil, oil from the filter dumps down on the y-pipe. It burns off.

It could be a valve cover gasket
Rear main seal
