yeah, sounds like a bad alternator. You can take it in and have it bench tested at like autozone or somewhere, but your batt should put out 12.6 roughly not running, and should be around 14.4 when running. It should never be less while the car is running, that means all your accessories are using battery power and not alternator power. Get that alt changed before you get stranded. I ignored a volts light once because my 1990 lumina was running perfect, and ended up getting stranded on one of the coldest winter nights here. Not good.
