Power Steering Pressure Line (Caused me Stitches)
Problem:
Power Steering Pressure line with Pin hole leak.
What I've Done:
Ok, I searched for possible fixes for this gripe, with no joy. I did find that this line is a bitch to get to one fitting, as I have noticed my self. The other night the wrench slipped causeing me Three, frigen, stitches.
I got pissed off and decided to just cut the rubber hose. Not knowing there is a metal Flex line inside the Rubber, I cut right through the damn thing. Now I got one half of the Pressure line out but the other have stuck. I have tried this fitting from all angles useing a crows foot and a pipe wrench with no joy. As of right now I do not know of any special tools to help me with this problem.
This is my best idea to fix this problem:
Cut the line at the point where ther metal line turns into rubber hose. Then get some High pressure rubber hose and about 16 clamps and clamping the SOB down so hard it will never pop off from pressure.
Now, before I go JERRY RIGGIN' this thing and hurting myself again, does anyone else have any other ideas.

Sorry to hear about the stiches, and glad to hear the high idle is solved. Power Steering is not my specialty, so i dont really know anything about it. Good luck. Someone here knows. About the best I can say is to heat the Mutha up with a blow torch or something, and then try to loosen it. Sometimes this works. Or else use like liquid wrench or something. Good luck.

Thanks TBLAKE on the suggestion for Liquid Wrench. I tried that long before I got my stitches, with absolutely no joy.
Here is a picture of the line I'm trying to Repair/Replace.

what are you using? Where is it located? are you using a combination wrench? Slip a 2 foot pipe over the end of that wrence (cheater bar). Gives you more torque. You'ld be suprized as to how much this actually helps. I'm probably suggesting things you've already tried. Sorry if I am. Its all I've got.

Funny you ask what tools I've used. Here is what I've used for starters.
Everything listed is 18MM:
Crows foot w/ ratchet only, w/ ratchet, 2 extensions and a universal joint
Pipe wrench
Pipe Crows foot w/ ratchet only; w/ ratchet, 2 extensions and a universal joint
Open end wrench
Some Liquid Wrench
Some stitches
And a 4 foot cheater bar ( no clearance to turn )
Now, this is what I've got in mind:
Cut the Rubber hose off to the steel pipe. Then get some High pressure hose and clamp the hell out of it.
If this don't work, I will cut the steel pipe off at the fitting and TRY to use a 18 mm socket to get the damn thing off.
If anyone else has any other idea's, please feel free to inform me.

I finally gave up on the damn line.
I brought it to Lee's Tire and Service. The mechanic, worked 4.2 hours on it at $59/hour. He got the fitting off using a stubby wrench, and I guess a ton of man horse to the wrench. I highly doubt it, I think he problably used Air tools, something I don't have.
All well
I guess I will have to try harder next time.

tony,
Sorry I got on here after you gave up. I had a leak on my PS line. I ended up doing as you suggested and cut the tubing, Double flared it and connected HP hose with HP clamps.
Put it in the memory bank for next time

that happened to me a few weeks ago. i tried getting it out with a wrench but after 2 days of trying i sawed the pipe all the way 2 the bolt. i then got a 18mm socket with a universal joint slap on about 2 12inch extensions and one 3 inch so i can turn it above the engine. got that stupid bolt out in about 5 minutes :o
