The first time I replaced the fuel pump on my '96 Tahoe, it was under an extended warranry, so I had to take it to the dealership. They charged a little over $1000 parts and labor. The next one I changed myself and it cost me $300, only because I broke the sending unit. Otherwise it would have been around $130 for just the pump.0
These prices were between 2 and 4 years ago. The pump that the dealership put in had to be pulled because it was leaking gas, they said the sending unit was broken. Then I did the next one myself, this time the pump was pumping, just not enough pressure. Just my luck (can't you see how good my luck is) the pump I put in had a malfunction at the power connector. It had gotten hot enough that the hard plastic connector had melted.
