2002 venture and extended warranty

My warranty just expired three months ago. Should I purchase extended? What will need replacing on my venture soon? I only have 47,000 km on it. Advice appreciated.

Like with all insurance policies, you are essentially paying ahead of time for unlikely but still possible problem. The insurance company is betting that you never make a claim and it pays off for them.

Our vans definitely have their problems. The intake manifold gasket was poorly designed initially. The transmission also has a few problems. Plus there are a variety of issues that any vehicle is going to have as it gets older.

How much is the warranty and what all does it cover for how long? My parents just purchased a used Caravan and are getting a extended warrenty through the dealer for 3 more years or 100,000 total vehicle miles (about 35,000 more miles). It was around $1500 IIRC. With my 98, I've owned it for over 3 years and put on 75k+ miles (156k total miles). I'm pretty sure that I've put on less then $1500 in parts that would be covered under the warranty. But that is me doing all the work. If you don't want to do the labor, then an extended warrenty could easily pay for itself with just one repair. Intake gasket alone usually is $800+ at a dealer. Head gasket is twice that at least.

the cost for bumper to bumper coverage for another 3 years is about $1900 CAN. We have since installed our own remote starter, will this void our warranty?
