I am having issues in removing the fan on my 1998 s-10 w/ v6 4.3 Vortec, has a/c. Manual states to hold water pump pulley and remove large nut? I sthere a specific tool needed? I do not want to break a bolt on impellar. Please respond, will help! Thanks

Yes you need a special tool kit.It's a fan removal kit from NAPA.

I own 2 S-10's and a K2500 full-size. An easier alternative os to purchase the strap wrench set at Sears for $20. Sort of like a pipe wrench handle with a rubber strap. Works great for holding the water pump or other pulleys, removing oil filters, etc. Much cheaper than a NAPA speciality part.
