Yesterday I replaced the battery in my 1994 4-runner (manual transmission), but when I did it I accidently hooked up the new battery backwards.(I am an idiot) I replaced the alternator fuse (fusible link) and the subsequent fuses that melted and it worked fine last night with the exception of the radio security system that was activated when the battery died.

When I got in it this morning nothing would happen. The starter made no sound at all, the lights did not dim and the windshield wipers worked well. I checked all of the fuses again and they were fine; the battery has power and I even tried jumping it. I can remember this happening on the first start attempt yesterday as well but it worked on the second attempt.

Is this another wonderful security system thing or does it sound like I might have beat my starter up when I connected the battery incorrectly yesterday? Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Solution:
Coil igniter box, look for used about $65 w/coil; as apposed to $300 new.
