Fuel economy
I have a 1999 s-10 extended cab v6 4.3 vin x, automatic trans. Wondering how many in town miles and highway miles you guys get per gallon? I currently get about 250-280 miles on a full tank which is a 19.5 gallon tank. That is mostly in town driving.
Thanks

Re: Fuel economy
City driving mileage varies from town to town depending on what the traffic is like when you drive, elevation, if there are hills, and a practicly endless list of varibles.
Your best bet for a fair comparison is talk to someone that you know drives a simular vehicle in your city at around the same time of the day as you.
For example if you talk to someone that has to drive in LA at the rush hour peak they'll be lucky to get 150 miles on a tank.

Re: Re: Fuel economy
I have a cap on the truck already. Still stucks gas. How much of a difference will syn oil make? I wish I knew about that earlier. The truck is getting the rear diff seal replaced right now. I would have told them to put in Syn oil. Truck only has 80K I figured I would go Syn after 100K. I love this truck I have beat it up so many times and only minor repairs. Now that I am thinking about it I probally busted the seal in Canada on some very cool logging roads. I thought I was going to loose the boat I was pulling.

Re: Fuel economy
Your O2 sensor is due for replacement.
It could be wearing out.

Re: Fuel economy
I got 17.5mpg highway recently in my 89 4x4 with the 4.3. And Dang that front end adds ALOT of drag. There is one big hill around us, all of our other vehicles (2wd, never driven another 4x4 on it) gain about 10 mph down it, and I don't gain anything!

My '99 Sonoma gets about 320-330 miles to the tank. 4.3L, Automatic, extended cab, stepside, ZQ8 suspension, posi rear end. It's all stock other than a K+N intake system. Driving is pretty much mixed between city and freeway. Running the AC doesn't seem to change the mileage very much. I really don't drive it too hard, but occasionally I open it up to hear the roar from the intake system (which is worth the extra gas).

Yea, see if one disc or drum is hotter than the others.
