Rusted cab mounts

On my 87 4x4 the front driver side cab mout has rusted through. the door jams are screwed up and the trany linkage was untill i adjusted it. I was wondering what my options were to fix this. I'm afraid i will have to fab up some new ones and weld them back on. any one know how difficult this is to do or how hard they are to get off in the first place. I was also wondering about cutting the old mount down and using a lift block bolted though the cab floor with a long bolt and some large washers to put it back to noraml hight. I was afraid of then ripping through the floor though. what do u guys think. I also wanted some imput on aq t-bar crank how hard is this on the axles and ball joints. should i crank or not? any help would be great. Nuckolls_7

Re: Rusted cab mounts

For the cab mounts, there are different ways to fix them. You can buy the sheet metal replacements from LMP, Napa, etc. Then either weld them or bolt them to the cab. Or you can make your own out of 18 ga. sheetmetal. I have done both, but prefer to make my own as I like to fab stuff up myself.

HINT: Use hockey pucks to replace the rubber mounts. They are cheaper then ordering replacements. I picked up $0.99 hockey pucks from Walmart and have replaced all my cab, bed & body mounts with them. Just drill holes thru them and bolt them on either side of the metal mounts.

thanks for the reply. I have the lmc catalog and it donsn't have metal cab mounts. i figured that i would have to fab new one. what about the lift block idea any one ever seen this or think it would work. and any feed back on the t-bar crank would be great. Nuckolls_7
