replacing "compressor revolution sensor" 1993 camry

hello. ac light on dash is blinking. i know its from the revolution sensor. question is, any place i can get one of these cheeper than the dealer or just a way i can bypass it and make it " think" that its working?!@?@!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

it came off and got chewed up by my compressor. dealer wants 150 dollars for a new one. im thinking maybe local u-pull it junk yard, or bypassing it if possible untill then.

ALSO, will the AC work with this sensor NOT hooked up? will it still blow cold air? mine isnt cold during the day, but at night its fine. could this be because of the sensor going bad?????

Re: replacing "compressor revolution sensor" 1993 camry

ok then. maybe im being too " high speed" for everybody here.

ANYWAYS.... there is a sensor on top of the compressor and it senses the " compressors revolution" to make sure the clucth has engaged and is spinning. if the sensor goes bad, your AC wont be cold and your AC light on the dash will blink

ANYBODY ELSE know anything?

Re: replacing "compressor revolution sensor" 1993 camry

Revolution sensor: 165 – 205 ohms at 20C (68F)

You should be able to activate the compressor clutch manually by routing 12 V through terminals 1 and 4 of the magnetic clutch relay. Terminals 1 and 4 are the pair with continuity when the relay is removed from the car.

See the wiring diagrams in the A/C section of the 1994 Camry manual in the Sticky post - top of this forum.

Re: replacing "compressor revolution sensor" 1993 camry

You claim your revolution sensor came off compressor and got chewed up, and you’re A.C. work’s good at night but not in the evening. Are you saying compressor engages in the evening when your turn on A.C. or just cool vent output because of cool evening? If you bypass revolution sensor, you will also by-pass all the logic of the Amplifier,- locked or dragging compressor, trinary pressure switch, evaporator temp sensor, Do you plan on cycling compressor based on temp or pressure. I would pay the for a new one from the dealer.

Chuey11 has the best solution. It is a bad idea to keep the compressor on all the time.
